Melbourne Mizo Association

The Journey of the Association

The Melbourne Mizo Association was founded on March 7, 2009, by a small group of pioneering Mizo migrants to Melbourne. In 2010, it was officially registered as an incorporated association under the Consumer Affairs Victoria, Associations Incorporation Act (1981), schedule 4, regulation 18, model rules for an Incorporated Association.

Our Mission

The Melbourne Mizo Association was founded with a clear mission to uphold and support the values of the Mizo community. Our objectives guide all that we do, ensuring we remain true to our roots and committed to our people

  • Preserve Mizo Culture and Values in Australia (Melbourne)
We are dedicated to upholding the cultural, moral codes, and ethics of the Mizo people, keeping our traditions alive for future generations.
  • Community Advancement
We strive to continuously elevate and advance our community, ensuring progress in all aspects of life.

  • Support for Those in Need
Offering support to those facing challenges is central to our mission, helping individuals overcome difficulties and thrive.
  • Promoting Responsible Citizenship
The Melbourne Mizo Association encourages the community to grow as responsible and engaged citizens, both within our association and the broader society.

  • Strengthening External Relationships
We work to build strong, meaningful relationships with other organisations, creating networks that benefit everyone.
  • Safeguarding Mizo Language and Heritage
Protecting the Mizo language and cultural heritage is at the heart of what we do, ensuring these valuable traditions are never lost.

  • Values of Selflessness and Integrity
The Melbourne Mizo Association embodies the core values of selflessness and integrity, ensuring our work always puts the community first.
  • Standing Together in Grief:
In addition to these aims, the Melbourne Mizo Association plays a crucial role in supporting the community through both grief-stricken and celebratory moments, ensuring that no one faces life’s highs and lows alone.
